Rafael Atoyan was born in 1931 . on January 31 in Leninakan . 1944 - 1946 _ studied at Gyumri art school named after Sergey Merkurov , from 1948 to 1953 at the Fine Arts Academy of Yerevan , from 1954 to 1959 at the Yerevan Art and Theater Institute .
