Marlowe was born Ronald DeLeo in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Emil and Constance Severini DeLeo. He had a half-sister, Claudia, and half-brothers Dean and Robert, known as the guitarist and bassist of the popular grunge band Stone Temple Pilots.
